A massive congratulations to all of our incredible students who poured their hearts and souls into this year’s Spring Concert and Art Show! From mastering difficult musical pieces to creating stunning visual masterpieces, our students showed amazing dedication, growth, and bravery.
This spectacular night wouldn't have been possible without our wonderful teachers. A huge thank you to Mr. G for his tireless work preparing the kids for the stage, and to Mr. Lynch for guiding our students to bring their artistic visions to life. Spring Assessments
Today (Friday) your child is bringing home their spring assessments in their backpack. Depending on their grade they may have a DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) K-3, or a Star Assessment for math (K-6) and Literacy (3-6). If you have any questions about these assessments, please reach out to your child's teacher.
Library News
The end of the school year is in sight!
Students will no longer be checking books out of the library and all library books are now due. You should have received a reminder early this week of the books your students have out. You'll receive another next week for any books that are still out. Will you please help them find and return those books? If you have any questions please let me know at katherine.freeland@wsesu.net
As part of library maintenance, I weed/remove books that are in poor condition, are outdated, or haven't been used in many years (see SB policy D8, Section IV, Deselection of Library Materials (“Weeding”) for more information). These books need new homes!
I'll offer them to students and families this week and next week. You'll soon see these books outside the gym doors at pickup time. If you see any you like please take them!
Spring Bike and Walk to school
Our Spring Walk and Bike to school will be on June 3rd. To help make this successful, we count on a few adult volunteers to help guide groups safely to school. If you would like to volunteer, please email Amanda Yates: ayates@wsesu.net
More details including group meet up locations and timing to come!

Classroom Configurations for Next School Year
We are excited to begin our planning for next year. With strong support from our community to support our small school, we are happy to share that next year we will have the following classes:
Kindergarten with Mrs. Jackie Griffis
Jackie has a strong Montessori background and is an expert in early childhood developmental stages. Her passion for play based and outdoor learning helps build a strong foundation for joyful kids who love learning and love being at school.
Grades 1 and 2 with Ms. Sarah Day
Sarah has been our multi age specialist for over a decade and is our school’s leader in the Responsive Classroom Approach. Her clarity and structure help our early learners develop into strong independent students who know the why of learning and expectations, not just the how.
Grades 3 and 4 with Mrs. Hope Yeager
Hope brings her multi age experience and creativity in curriculum integration to every learning opportunity for our students. Her diverse artistic background is evident with our students learning as they develop confidence in finding their voice and autonomy.
Grades 5 and 6 with Mrs. Cindy Parent
Cindy, also a highly skilled multi age teacher, has great skills at holding a balance for our oldest students as they begin to transition into their adolescent years. Her gentle guidance with clear collaborative expectations helps our students as they develop their leadership and academic skills.
We look forward to this strong teaching team as they continue to support our elementary students!
