ABS Newsletter: Week of May 13, 2024

Good morning families,

We had a great "Outdoor Day" on Tuesday, with perfect weather!

Next Friday, we will have 2 performances of Circus Smirkus for family, friends and community. Come see all of the kids hard work! Shows will be held at 1:00 PM and 5:30 PM in the ABS Gym.

L.A.R.P. Day ( Live Action Role Play June 7th

Hello Neighbors,

Albert Bridge School in Brownsville, VT will be holding our second annual L.A.R.P (Live Action Role Play) event this June 7th. To help us pull off this event we are looking for the following donations;

Costumes- variety of sizes and missing pieces of the costumes is okay (we do not allow students to wear masks due to school policy).

Fabric- any variety of fabric is good.

Garland- vines, flowers, any variety is fine

Costume jewelry/fun jewelry/dress up

Any kind of decoration that looks of a medieval/renaissance fair nature (please no junk)

Any of these donations can be dropped off outside of ABS on the bench anytime of the day. If you wish to get in touch with someone regarding a donation or wishing to volunteer for this program please get in touch with either myself Annalise Ennis annalise.ennis@wsesu.net, or reply to this thread. ABS Library News

Library News

We have a library website! You'll find it under the Parents tab on the school website. On it you'll see a link to our library catalog, as well as information about the Vermont Book Awards books we've been reading this spring. Next year it will be full of library news and resources. Stay tuned!

Next week will be the last week for students to check out or renew books. All library books will be due back by May 30! If your child needs to keep a book beyond that date, please let me know. You can expect a notice from me next week, letting you know what books are checked out to your students, and a reminder they all need to be returned the following week.

May 30 & 31 6th Grade class trips

6/7 - L.A.R.P Day 9AM-2PM (Live Action Role Play)

6/12 - 6th Grade Graduation 9:00 AM

6/13 -Last day of school - Dismiss at 12:00

6/13 - Last day of BTG

6th Grade 50/50 Raffle

6th grade will be selling raffle tickets to raise money for their upcoming field trips to Boston and Rye Beach.

One lucky winner will be chosen, at random, and that winner will receive half of the cash raised! The remaining cash will go directly to the 6th grade field trip fund.

See any 6th grader to buy your tickets.

Ticket sales will run from Friday, May 10th to Friday, May 24th.

The winning ticket will be pulled on Tuesday, May 28th at 2:00pm.

Be sure to write your name neatly and to provide a phone number on your ticket, then keep your half in a safe place!

Prevent Child Abuse VT

Greetings,

PCAVT is starting a Circle of Parents Group called Family Fun Circle. The idea came after several discussions with folks about the challenges of summer for parents. Working parents must find childcare and parents who aren’t working are with their kids more than during the school year. This Circle would focus on support for parents of children in preschool through 5th grade. It will be a space to share ideas and frustrations such as, “my child is making me crazy”, “how do I limit technology?”, “how can I develop a summer routine?”. In addition, participants will exchange suggestions for activities and outings that are free or inexpensive!

It will be on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm, beginning June 11.
