ABS Newsletter: Week of March 25th

Hello ABS Families,

I am sending the newsletter today as we have an early dismissal tomorrow, Thursday, 3/28 at 12:00 and no school on Friday, 3/29 to support student led conferences.

Ascutney Outdoors News!

AO’s plan IF the snow holds out is to run the rope tow for the public on Friday March 29th from 1PM until 4PM. We will also be open for skiing and tubing on Saturday March 30th from Noon until 4PM. Students who join us will have access to their equipment both days. We will not operate on Sunday March 31st to allow our volunteers to spend Easter with their families.

Destination Imagination Competition

We had a very successful, and fun day presenting our projects and watching other teams share their projects at the VT DestiNation Imagination Tournament yesterday at Norwich University.

Both Box Builder Three (Avery G., Ani, and Maddie H.) and Master Men (Brayden and Tyler) won the day, earning 1st place in the Elementary In Motion and Going the Distance categories! Congratulations to these teams! Their hard work, bravery in presenting to an audience, and can do spirit was on display today.

We look forward to sharing their projects with the whole school before break.

We will be hosting our amazing Destination Imagination Teams in the ABS gymnasium on April 5th from 8:30-9:00 am.

Team 1- Master Men @ 8:00-@ 8:10

Team 2- Box Builders Three @8:10-@ 8:20

Team 3- Thunder @8:20-@8:30

What is Destination Imagination? Destination Imagination is a project based, kid-driven program that teaches kids to be innovative problem solvers. Teams of students collaborate, think outside the box and create unique solutions to one of seven different challenges in preparation for a fun, problem-solving competition.

Brownsville Base Camp

Brownsville Base Camp, a new nonprofit summer camp located in Brownsville is now open for registration. Give your child the gift of the great outdoors this summer with our play-based, educational summer camp. Camp will be run primarily out of ABS and will utilize the Ascutney Outdoors Center.

Camp registration is open for weeks July 8-August 2nd. Campers can register for 1, 2, 3, or all 4 weeks.
